In other words, although Turkey has done her best to put up with EU's requirements, the prerequisites are only reasons to delay the admission process. The issue is not that Turkey does not abide by the EU's socio-economic standards, but it is the issue of Turkey being a majority Muslim country that really matters. To put it differently, since Turkey does not conform to the EU's cultural and religious standards she has no place inside EU, and therefore should never be allowed in.In terms of methodology, this research was purely a library kind of research, where the focus was on books, journal articles, newspapers and so on. From this study the author found out that although the majority of European politicians supported Turkish membership, public opinion in EU's countries generally opposed. Several states, notably France and Austria, made clear their reluctance to Turkey's admission. The findings of the study implied that the existing clash of civilizations between Islam and the West will get worse, and this is absolutely unfavorable for the future of world civilization. 19918178 English Article |
