The usability of 3D interactive navigation in communicating interior space lighting

Recently there have been concerns from previous research on the effectiveness of computer aided interior design practice in the industry. Gap of communication between designers and clients in space planning does exist when clients are unable to visualize lighting conditions in the proposed design. G...

Recently there have been concerns from previous research on the effectiveness of computer aided interior design practice in the industry. Gap of communication between designers and clients in space planning does exist when clients are unable to visualize lighting conditions in the proposed design. Game environment may be promising means of interaction, and the advances in real-time rendering technology allow realistic interactive 3D environments to run in home computers. Given that clients should also participate in the process of interior design, the proposed methodology focuses on usability for non-expert users. The result has shown that interactive 3D visualization was effective due to the fact that it involves the supporting real-time rendering and immersion when delivering the message. © 2011 IEEE.
