Summary: | Many authors agree that Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) enhances organizational performance because it lubricates social machinery of the organization, reduces friction and increases efficiency. Although OCB involves some degrees of personal choice, a person will not be punished if he or she chooses not to engage in this behavior, banks supervisors should consider implementing this concept to the bank in preparation for future working environment. OCB-related behaviors are actions that the supervisors appreciate. This paper focuses on how OCB dimensions, which consist of altruism, conscientiousness, sportsmanship, courtesy and civic virtue, contributes to organizational performance, considering the influence of bank supervisors' emotional intelligence (EI) on this relationship. This is a one time cross-sectional study. Dropped-off and Picked-up method was used in this study The analysis of 200 data gathered from a dyad sample of supervisors and their subordinates, that represented Development Financial Institutions (DFiA) situated in Klang Valley of Malaysia revealed that gender plays a significant role in EI and OCB of supervisors and their subordinates. Besides, others' emotional appraisal (OEA) and Regulation of emotion (ROE) are the dimensions of emotional intelligence that predict employees' organizational citizenship behaviour. © 2010 IEEE.
