Summary: | A new solid polymer blend electrolyte using Poly (vinyl alcohol) and chitosan have been prepared using solution cast technique. Blending PVA and chitosan is a good technique for designing a new polymeric material with superior properties such as good ionic conductivity and flexibility. LiCF 3SO3 is used as the doping salt to prepare PVA/chitosan-LiCF3SO3. The conductivity of solid polymer electrolyte (SPE) has been investigated using impedance spectroscopy. In this work, the effect of L-leucine on electrical conductivity of the SPE was investigated. Results showed enhancement in ionic conductivity value of 1.27x10-4 Scm-1 for the sample containing 0.6 wt. % of L-leucine. FTIR is employed and confirmed the interaction between additive and polymer-salt complexes has occurred. Results on morphology studies by SEM showed that the SPE prepared was homogenous. © 2009 American Institute of Physics. |
